Terms of Service
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and ResumeScan ("ResumeScan", "we", "us") governing your use of resumescan.app and the associated analysis and document services (together, the "Service"). By uploading a document or purchasing any product, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an employer, agency, or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to do so and that "you" includes that organisation.
2. What the service does
ResumeScan analyses resume documents to identify structural characteristics that commonly break automated applicant tracking systems. Specifically, the Service:
- extracts text from a document you upload;
- simulates a deliberately naive, reading-order-based parser and displays the resulting text order;
- applies a documented set of rules to identify structural problems such as multi-column layouts, tables, missing section headings, and ambiguous date formats;
- optionally compares your document against a job description you provide to identify keyword gaps;
- on a paid purchase, generates a corrected, single-column document and a record of the changes made.
The Service analyses documents. It does not act as an employment agency, recruiter, staffing service, or career advisor, does not submit applications on your behalf, and does not contact employers.
3. No guarantee of employment or interviews
The Service does not guarantee that you will receive interviews, job offers, callbacks, or any particular employment outcome. Whether you are hired depends on factors entirely outside our control, including your experience, the role, the employer, the hiring manager, labour market conditions, and decisions made by people we have no connection to.
Our only commitment is mechanical and specific: your document will be restructured into a single-column reading order and will not be scrambled or dropped by the parsing logic we simulate. No claim of an employment outcome, however implied by marketing language elsewhere on the site, forms part of these Terms.
4. Accuracy and ATS behaviour
The parser simulation models a class of naive, reading-order-based text extraction. Real systems differ between vendors (including Workday, Taleo, Greenhouse, iCIMS, and others), change their behaviour over time, and use a mix of rule-based and machine-learning approaches.
Our simulation is an approximation, not an exact replica of any specific vendor system. Results should be treated as guidance for improving document structure, not as a prediction of how a particular employer's software will behave. Scores are relative indicators, not absolute measurements, and are not comparable to scores produced by any other tool.
Following our recommendations cannot guarantee passage through any particular ATS, and no result we produce constitutes professional advice on your employment prospects.
5. Your content and your rights
You retain all rights to the documents you upload. We claim no ownership of your resume, its content, or anything derived from your own writing.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, process, transmit, and temporarily store your document solely to perform the Service for you. This licence ends when we delete the document.
We do not train models on your documents. Detection runs on our own deterministic rule engine; no machine-learning model is trained, fine-tuned, or evaluated using your content, and no third-party AI processor receives it. See the Privacy Policy for retention periods.
You are responsible for the legality of the content you upload and for having the right to share it. Do not upload documents containing other people's personal information.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload malware, malicious code, or content designed to disrupt or probe the Service;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its infrastructure, or other users' data;
- circumvent, scrape, or reverse-engineer rate limits, free-tier limits, or paywalls;
- resell, redistribute, or republish the Service or its output as a standalone product;
- use automated systems to generate excessive load on the Service;
- submit documents you do not have the right to process, or use the Service for unlawful purposes.
We may limit or suspend access, and delete documents, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached or where required by law.
7. Pricing and payment
Current one-time prices are published on our pricing page and may change with notice. We currently offer:

There is no subscription and no automatic renewal. Nothing on the Service charges you monthly. Access based on a Season Pass ends 90 days after purchase and does not renew unless you buy again.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax, VAT, or GST that may be added at checkout based on your location. All prices are final once a purchase is completed.
Payments are processed by our payment processor. Payment is due at the point of sale. We may refuse or reverse transactions where we reasonably suspect fraud, in which case any amount charged will be refunded in full.
8. Refund policy
To request a refund, email support@resumescan.app from the address used for the purchase, or include the purchase reference from your receipt. We do not require you to complete an exit survey, explain your decision, or justify the request, and we do not retain your documents to "evaluate the quality" of a request.
We generally do not refund:
- where the report correctly identified the structural issues present in your document, even if you did not secure interviews;
- where the refund is requested more than 7 days after purchase;
- repeated purchases of the same product for the same document where the first purchase already delivered the corrected file.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method. Depending on your bank, funds may take 5 to 10 business days to appear.
Statutory rights of consumers, including rights that cannot be waived or limited, are unaffected by this policy.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. The Service may be modified, discontinued, or temporarily unavailable for maintenance, and features may change or be withdrawn. We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version with a revised effective date; continuing to use the Service after that constitutes acceptance.
10. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, that results will be error-free, or that any result will achieve a particular outcome with any applicant tracking system, employer, or recruiter.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, or loss of employment.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that does not permit exclusion under applicable law.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ResumeScan and its operator from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your upload of content you had no right to submit, or your violation of any third party's rights.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of ResumeScan is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Where you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you retain the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. Nothing in this section removes that right.
Where you are a consumer resident in the United States, you waive any right to a jury trial and any right to participate in a class action, except where such waiver is not permitted by applicable state law. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the operator's jurisdiction, and both parties consent to that venue.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
